CANYONING CETINA

Cetina river has been flowing for thousands of years and thus creating mystical shapes in its bed. Crystal clear water and river suitable for swimming offer a true experience of untouched nature with its cliffs up to 180 meters high, waterfalls, lakes, subterranean tunnels and a 50 meters high waterfall Gubavica. Guide will give you a life-jacket, a helmet, neoprene pants and jacket and the small expedition is ready to set off. The sound of the river becomes louder as you descend into the canyon. Ten minutes later you will find yourself in the middle of Cetina river canyon. Walking through river and rapids, going through subterranean tunnels, swimming in natural pools, going around waterfalls and lakes – all this is canyoning. If you are looking for more adrenaline-pumped version of this tour, you can check Extreme canyoning in Split.

HISTORY OF CANYONING ON CETINA RIVER

The story goes back to 1999 when a team of young climbers and nature lovers launched a first adventure race in Croatia named Cro Challenge. The same year they established an association for adventure sports caled ‘Spirit’. One day during the preparation of the race they came across stunning canyon of Cetina river in the vicinity of Zadvarje village. They knew immediately this was an amazing location not only for a one day race but a unique place to escape ordinary tourist attractions and crowds in nearby coastal cities.

In June 2000 they started with first commercial canyoning tours on Cetina river with departure from Split city and Zadvarje village. At that time it was the first commercial canyoning tour in south-east Europe. They named their company Adventure Dalmatia and the team quickly grew. Two years later Extreme canyoning tour with two rope lowerings developed and offered even more adrenaline to visitors. Thanks to thousands of guests through more than 20y, Adventure Dalmatia established the highest standards with equipment and safety procedures you can see today on Cetina canyoning tours.

In 2009 they launched their website croatiacanyoning.com specialized to promote all Croatian canyons suitable for canyoning activity.
In May 2010 Adventure Dalmatia launched sa-backup.proficodev.com to promote Canyoning and Extreme Canyoning on Cetina river as well as other outdoor activities with our guides and equipment in Split area.

In June 2016 we opened new Canyoning Center in Zadvarje village fully equipped for exploration of Cetina river canyon during whole season from April until October.
