FAQ: KAYAKING

1. Do I need experience to join a kayaking adventure?

No experience is necessary. Most of our guests have never been in a sea kayak before. Anyone in average physical condition may join a kayak tour. We will show you proper sea kayaking technique and water safety before leaving the beach. And your expert guides will be with you throughout the adventure to give you pointers and improve your skills.

2. How stable are the kayaks and do they ever flip?

DAG tandem kayaks we use comfortably hold two paddlers and are extremely stable. Its actually quite difficult to flip a tandem sit on top kayak over.

3. Will I get wet during the kayak tour?

Yes, you will. We use double sit-on-top kayaks so you will get wet.

4. Do I need to be in shape for the kayaking trip?

Our sea kayaking trips are rated “moderate” for overall physical difficulty. Most of time we will be moving at an easy pace. If you enjoy hiking, cycling, or swimming, then you are already in shape for sea kayaking.

5. Are there showers and restrooms available on the kayak tours?

There are no shower facilities during/after the tour.

6. What should I take with me?

Swimming suit, towel, sunscreen, hat, plenty of water, dry clothes to change after the tour.

7. What sea kayaking equipment do you use?

We use double sit-on-top DAG kayaks, DAG Searun paddles, DAG rapid life-jackets.

8. Can I use a single kayak?

Single kayaks are available upon request and if available.

9. Do I need to wear a PFD?

All Adventure Dalmatias guests must wear provided Personal Flotation Devices (aka PFDs or life-jackets). The PFD is designed to float you face up in the water.

10. How and when should I make a reservation?

You can request a reservation online or over the phone. Start at our Reservations page and fill in the form. Our staff will reply as soon as possible.

Certain days during the season sell out quickly, so we encourage contacting our office to check for availability. While reservations are required in advance to participate on the tour, last-minute reservations are welcome a day or two before the trip.

11. Who else will be on the tour? Can I book as an individual?

Other individuals or groups who made a reservation for the same day as you did. On average we send 1 guide on 8-10 people.

You can book as in individual and we will join you to one of the groups.

12. Can I reserve a private tour?

Yes, you can. You can go to our Reservations form and among other details emphasize you want a private tour.

Price and availability of this tour depends on the period of the year, transfer and number of people.

13. Does the price include insurance?

Persuant to the Law on Providing services in Tourism, Article 56, paragraph 3, Adventure Dalmatia is responsible to provide insurance for clients.

14. Should I tip my guide?

Guests often ask whether gratuities are appropriate, and in what amount. If you feel your guides have provided a very special trip for you, a gratuity may be left with the trip leader and will be shared among the crew.

15. What is the price of the tour and how do I pay?

Pricing can be found on our web page under trip info. Special prices are given for group trips, multiple trips with our agency and youth groups.

Payment is in local money (Croatian Kuna HRK) or EUR (€) in cash. Once we start the tour there are no ATms so make sure you bring enough money with you.

16. Will the tour be cancelled if it rains?

In case of a rainfall, the tour is cancelled or rescheduled.

17. What happens in case of a sudden thunderstorm?

In case of a sudden thunderstorm and before beginning of the tour, Adventure Dalmatia holds right to cancel or reschedule the tour.

We hold the right to cancel the tour 1 or 2 days before the tour depending on weather conditions.

If the tour has been paid and then cancelled because of weather conditions, refund is 100% of the price.
